Kahtoola MicroSpikes

Kahtoola Microspikes have been updated with an improved lightweight Elastomer harness that is supple to -30°C allowing you to use them with confidence in the harshest of winter conditions. To increase strength and durability the eyelets have now been reinforced with a harder plastic material, this prevents the chain links from ripping through the harness. At the front of the harness is a new toe bale to hold the spikes even more securely, also allowing for you to get them on and off a lot quicker.

MicroSpikes are lightweight pavement and trail crampons ideal for snowed up paths and pavements. They form the bridge between lighter pavement crampons and lightweight walking crampons which are designed for mountain use. They will fit onto almost any shoe or boot in seconds to give you extra traction on ice and hard-packed snow. The traction is achieved by chains and small spikes held firmly in place under the foot by a rubber upper rand.

The Kahtoola MicroSpikes have proven especially popular with off road runners who want a light, compact crampon which will attach securely to a running shoe to allow them to pass icy sections. The shoe gives you the ideal grip when on the fells and trails around the UK.

The Kahtoola EXOspikes are a highly versatile winter traction device that fits over almost any shoes or boots, giving excellent grip in slippery conditions for trail runners and hikers.

Designed to take a beating, EXOspikes™ introduces an industry-first TPU Traction Matrix that is more lightweight and abrasion resistant than steel, and enables users to take on a mix of terrain and conditions—including frozen mountain trails, icy roads, and everything in between. EXOspikes™ combine more than two decades of winter traction technology and experience, and embody the high performance, reliability, and safety outdoor enthusiasts expect from Kahtoola.

Specifications

• Spike Design - Twelve integrated spikes per foot deliver three levels of traction. Tungsten carbide tips bite into ice and packed snow, aluminium steps grip uneven surfaces, and TPU lugs dig into loose terrain.
• TPU Traction Matrix - An industry-first TPU Traction Matrix is extremely durable and more abrasion resistant than steel. The open design quickly sheds snow and adapts to a wide range of flexible footwear.
• Reinforced Eyelets - Using a patented eyelet design, tough TPU inserts reinforce key stress points, allowing the elastomer harness to be lighter and stronger.
• Integrated Toe Bail - Using the same technology and TPU as the reinforced eyelets, an integrated toe bail provides added security and prevents the toe from pushing through the front of the elastomer harness.
• Raised Heel Tab - Allows for easy pull-back and removal.
• Elastomer Harness - A new TPE elastomer harness geometry optimises fit and allows for easy entry. Low-profile and highly durable, it remains stretchy in cold temperatures, down to -30°C

Meet the MUDTALON: a trail & fell running shoe for everyday training over any distance on soft and muddy ground.

Built for hills, mountains and mud, the MUDTALON provides superior grip on any terrain you’ll encounter. Talon-like 8mm studs will gouge through soft mud, but also cling to wet rock for dependable grip and traction. The unique goat's hoof shape of the studs also release the mud just as quick once you push off, keeping you feeling light and in control.

The MUDTALON benefits from our lightest midsole foam yet: POWERFLOW PRO. Compared to the MUDTALON SPEED, the MUDTALON has a slightly thicker midsole, to give greater comfort and bounce over long distances. Despite the cushioning, the shoe’s midsole has been designed in such a way that you can still feel and respond to the ground beneath you – something that’s particularly important when running in the hills and mountains.

The brand-new anatomical shape of the MUDTALON hugs the natural contours of your foot, locking in at the heel and widening at the toes for a secure, comfortable feel. Built into that we have two new specific fits for MUDTALON - Precision Fit and Wide Fit. The biggest difference between the two fits is the width at the toe-box, with the Wide fit being wider:
- Go Precision Fit if you have narrow feet or like a closer, more secure feel. It allows for greater nimbleness and agility when running and contouring over steep or tricky terrain.
- Go Wide Fit if you have wider feet or like an extra comfortable feel with more wiggle room for toes. It allows for greater comfort when running longer distances, when toes can often swell.

A secure, locked-in feel at the heel is achieved by a MET-CRADLE. Thick overlay strips connect your midfoot to your heel, which pulls in when you tighten your laces. Underfoot, a flexible ROCK-PLATE protects your feet against sharp rocks and tree roots.

The MUDTALON's tough upper is made from ballistic nylon. This rugged and robust material will protect against wear from vegetation and rocks when in the hills and mountains.

If you're looking for an everyday training shoe for soft and muddy ground, the MUDTALON has all the grip, cushioning and protective features you could wish for.
