On the track; an athlete wears a Lycra, on the mountain; a mountaineer wears a Gore-Tex Proshell. Kamleika takes the athlete onto the mountain with a shell layer that protects from wind and rain while stretching to give freedom of movement and so aiding athletic performance. Highly breathable, lightweight and now even more durable in a new Nylon face fabric. Kamleika is the choice for people who have recognised that they may have to wear a waterproof all day and yet still head for the fells anyway.

The Kamleika was, and still is, the original stretch running waterproof. Running in the mountains, in the rain, throws up as many challenges for kit as it does for people. This is particularly true when designing a waterproof pant where a blend of properties must be achieved. We demand durability, comfort, stretch, weather protective features, low weight, waterproofness and breathability, all of which must be balanced in the perfect combination. The Kamleika is OMM’s answer to this challenge. Updated for winter 2020 with a Nylon outer layer, it is now more durable than ever.

Flash winter tights use a combination of fabrics to provide insulation and venting for use in below zero conditions. The Vector super stretch thermal fabric is used on the thighs and lower legs which are more exposed to the elements. The lighter flash fabric is used on the other panels of the tights to provide venting and a free range of movement. The 220g full length tight is perfect for winter ascents and longer days in the hills.

Mesh panels behind the knees provide great ventilation to keep your legs cool and dry when working up a sweat. 4-way stretch material provides brilliant durability and flexibility that lets your body move without restriction.

Stretch Polyamide (18% Lycra) yarn fabric is high-wicking though not cool-to-feel which can be a discomfort with some close fitting, high Lycra content leggings. Grip strips prevent the legs riding up when high stepping over tusocks and bogs.

The 3/4 length is a great option for those in-between days.

Now in it’s 6th Generation, the original Kamleika stretch waterproof was first released in 2005 and rapidly attracted many fans, not to mention a few imitators.

Known for its unmatched next-to-skin comfort, freedom of movement and protection in harsh conditions; the Kamleika has been specifically designed to the demands of the mountain runner.

Named after the garment worn by the Aleut people of the high Arctic on the shores of the Bearing Sea, though no longer constructed from the innards of sea otters; like the Aleuts, mountain runners require a waterproof and protective, yet lightweight and packable layer that is unrestrictive and moves with them.

The 5th generation of Kamleika introduced the tough Nylon face fabric whilst the 6th now includes a PFAS-free bio membrane and PFC-free DWR treatment.

This has allowed us to drastically reduce the environmental impact of the jacket’s manufacture and use, no longer using the “forever chemicals” that are incredibly harmful to the natural world but without compromising the performance of the jacket in the harshest conditions.

With 4-Way stretch, soft feel and great breathability, the Kamleika fabric looks, feels and even sounds like a softshell but with the fully waterproof membrane, taped seams and DWR, it offers the waterproof protection needed to move confidently in bad weather.

C-ZERO CONSTRUCTION & PLANT-BASED MEMBRANE

Using a PFC-free DWR and a PFAS-free bio-membrane has removed the long-chain carbons and forever chemicals from the manufacture and use of the Kamleika, reducing the environmental impact of the fabric whilst maintaining the performance we demand from it. The new bio-membrane is derived from plant-based materials and is a much more sustainable option that is at the cutting edge of membrane technology.

Building on our popular Bearing Tee range, the Bearing Zip Tee adds extra ventilation plus a little extra protection for the back of the neck. Perfect worn on its own or else as part of your layering system when heading out any any time of year.

Constructed from a 4-way Coolplus stretch fabric to create a technical tee that is high wicking and allows a free range of movement on the go. The raglan sleeve and flatlock seams minimise rub points across the back and shoulders. Polygiene anti-bacterial and odour control create a technical tee that cares for your skin even in high intensity activity and multi-day racing.

The Bearing Tee uses a double layered Polyester fabric knitted to create a mesh with excellent wicking properties. Removing moisture from the skin is essential for comfort and safety when on the hill. Moisture is a great conductor of heat and our bodies sweat to cool and regulate our core temperature. Great while being active but at rest you want to keep that heat whilst you plan your next move; put up your tent or enjoy a cup of tea on the finish line. Dry skin also experiences less friction and so reduces rubbing beneath pack or waistbelt

Swedish company Polygiene are leading in garment treatments that prevent the buildup of bacteria on clothing and skin. This benefits skin health by preventing surface infections and also removes unpleasant odours created by bacterial breakdown of sweat. Not a pleasant subject but we all sweat; this regulates temperature, lubricates the skin and washes oils and dirt out of our pores. Unfortunately, this also provides everything bacteria wants to multiply. Polygiene uses Silver ions (naturally occurring) to prevent the bacteria multiplying. This is a two-pronged attack interrupting the genetic programming of bacteria and also preventing them producing more cell surface which they need to divide in two.
