About The Hardmoors Race Series

The Hardmoors 26.2 series is based on 7 different races that can be entered as a series or as individual events.

The events are spread across the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors - Wainstone, White Horse, Farndale, Fryupdale, Goathland, Roseberry Topping & Saltburn.

They are all fantastic events that are suitable for all abilities and experience.

These events provide the perfect stepping stone transaction for those waiting to work toward building up to a higher distance or who just enjoy being out in beautiful countryside.

An extremely supportive, friendly and caring community can be found within the hardmoors events.

Final words on running the Hardmoors Series

Keep a firm eye on the weather the week leading up to the event.

Wearing and taking the correct kit is paramount to the enjoyment of the day… is there anything worse than being too cold or too hot?

Try out any new food/kit before the event… it works both ways - imagine not having g enough of something that has worked wonders on your energy levels and wishing you had more!

Full Mandatory Kit List for the Hardmoors 55(50)

Runners must carry all items on the mandatory kit list at all times during the race. Kit checks do take place and can be thorough, with participants facing penalties or even disqualification for not carrying all the items

Please note: the kit list below is for the Hardmoors 55(50) event. Please visit your event page on the Hardmoors website and check the 'Info/Rules' tabs to be sure you have the right kit for the race you're running!

  • Rucksack or bumbag
  • ID (Driving Licence, Passport etc.)
  • Hat (Hat must NOT just be a buff) and gloves
  • Spare gloves
  • Waterproof jacket (MUST have taped seams and a hood)
  • Waterproof trousers
  • Full running tights (tracksters & 3/4 tights permitted)
  • Minimum of 1 litre water/sports drink (to start the race with, you are allowed to use this)
  • Headtorch/torch - check you batteries or carry spare just incase!
  • Cleveland Way Map or OS Maps (NOT just GPS)
  • Whistle
  • Survival bag (bag NOT just blanket) or a blizzard survival jacket
  • Emergency food supply (see nutritional products recommended above!)
  • Spare warm layer. Can be a lightweight fleece e.g. microfleece/Polartec etc. or Merino Wool base layer or primaloft jacket/down jacket*
  • A fully charged Mobile phone (to be kept on at all times)

*if your Merino top is worn to start the race in then you still need to carry a spare warm layer top in your bag
